Head of Acting at WAAPA comments on PEM

Glenda Linscott, Head of Acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAPPA) had this to say about PEM from our recent workshop there:

“There is much more focus on the health and well-being of the actor in our industry today and in the last decade, many conservatoire training institutions around the world have been quick to take to the Perdekamp Emotional Method(PEM). PEMS  is very easy for people to access, and a powerfully effective tool for actors to develop their craft for stage and film. I notice my students jumping into class work and rehearsals, giving much more of themselves, taking risks, making discoveries and finding more joy in the work. This is because they feel safe. They have a different understanding of emotional access through the bio physical experience rather than mining their personal psyches. I find PEM is an ethical and non-exploitative approach to lead young actors to intense and deep authentic performances.”
