We are very excited to officially announce the release of ‘Athlete of Emotion: Examining the Perdekamp Emotional Method’, a Master’s thesis by Vaughan Slinn. The thesis takes an in-depth look at the pedagogy of PEM, and contains research evaluated through a combination of a historical review of acting approaches to producing emotion, interviews with PEM creator Stephan Perdekamp and Master Instructor Sarah Victoria, and it’s theoretical underpinnings (and evaluating this against current neuroscience theories concerning emotion). What a wonderful 2021 so far! PEM Master Instructor Sarah Victoria has been busy teaching PEM to many new students at different acting schools across Australia and beyond. At the start of February, students at NIDA had an intense week of learning PEM online. The week after, Sarah continued teaching with students from Sydney's Screenwise - Australia's Leading Film & TV School for Actors. Sarah Victoria and Rik Stowman introduced PEM to NIDA back in 2017. Since then they have been welcomed back each year. We are incredibly excited to share PEM with the students of NIDA once again!

Over the last 7 weeks, PEM Master Instructor, Sarah Victoria has been instructing 40 students from VCA’s BA Acting and Theatre Making programs. They all learnt a lot and have been very enthusiastic in doing so. Head of Acting, Budi Miller, has invited PEM and Sarah back for more. The students are excited and eager to continue PEM training in Semester 2. We’re delighted to continue teaching the next generation of actors!

PEM Master Instructor Sarah Victoria has been teaching PEM to the BA of Acting and Theatre students at the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) in Melbourne. Here’s what she had to say about her first session with them: “I coached 40 VCA Victoria College of the Arts acting students in 4 hours online. It totally works! Amazing how they were all able to feel the emotion apparatus kick in and switch off in only one hour per group. Well done everybody!
