ABOUT THE INTRO WORKSHOP SERIES
Experience how PEM can revolutionise your acting craft with our exciting new two-part workshop series.
These workshops cover the foundations of PEM’s hallmark method for physically accessing authentic emotion on demand. PEM’s body-focused exercises invite you to work through personal restrictions to expand your acting range and sustainably deliver moving and inspiring performances.
Upon completion of this workshop series, you will be able to access all Six Basic Emotions in the PEM methodology and can immediately apply these new skills to your work.
WHAT WE'LL COVER
- Our hallmark method for physical access to authentic emotion using your innate biological emotion system.
- Tools and exercises to open up the body and expand emotional range.
- Convey subtle emotional nuances for close-up film work as well as powerful expressions needed for theatre and intense film scenes.

Workshop I
Part I of this series will cover some of the foundational principles of our methodology, and will teach you to access the first three Basic Emotions in PEM: Aggression, Happiness and Grief.
Workshop II
Part II will more deeply explore these foundational principles, and will teach you to access the remaining three Basic Emotions in our methodoology: Lust, Fear and Revulsion.

ENNA BLAKE
PEM Certified Instructor
Enna Blake is an actor, musician, and Certified PEM Instructor based in Melbourne, Australia. Since 2019, she has trained with PEM Master Instructor Sarah Victoria and PEM Founder Stephan Perdekamp and became certified to teach PEM in September 2022. Enna has assisted teaching PEM workshops at NIDA and the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, and has held in-person workshops in Melbourne and San Francisco. As an actor, Enna has played supporting and lead roles in independent short and feature films such as ‘Land of Honey’ (2019) and ‘The Library Boys (2022) which won Comedy Vanguard Feature at Austin Film Festival. She has also starred in music videos such as ‘Loose Ends’ by Illy ft G Flip (2020) and released her own EP ‘Under Dusk’ with singer/songwriter Harrison Storm in 2022. Enna is currently a proud member of the Melbourne PEM Production Group and teaches PEM at Melbourne Actors Guild, and to actors internationally online.
SAMUEL ROWE
PEM Certified Instructor
Samuel Rowe is an actor and PEM Certified Instructor based in Melbourne, Australia. Samuel has worked in professional theatres in Melbourne following his graduate degree in Acting from the Victorian College of the Arts (2018) and since 2019, has trained in PEM with Stephan Perdekamp and PEM Master Instructor Sarah Victoria. Samuel has assisted workshops at prestigious acting schools including the National Institute of Drama (NIDA), and since his certification in 2021 has coached actors in PEM from all over the world. Samuel has taught in-person PEM term classes at Film & TV Studio International in Melbourne, and will be holding classes with actors at Melbourne Actors Guild in 2024. With a great interest in fostering emotional development, Samuel is looking forward to sharing PEM with more people worldwide.

Do I need prior experience to participate in this workshop?
No specific background in acting or PEM is required. This workshop is designed for participants of all levels, from beginners to professionals.
What should I expect to gain from the PEM Intro Workshop Series?
You will gain an overview of PEM’s approach to physically accessing and expressing emotion authentically, as well as understand how to practically apply these skills.
How are the workshops days structured?
This workshop typically runs for 4.5hrs each day, incuding a 30min break. Each day consists of practical exercises, emotion theory, feedback and group discussions, group coaching and individual feedback .
Our workshops are physically intensive and we cover a lot of information in a short period of time, so we recommend fueling your body and staying hydrated throughout the workshop.
What materials or preparation do I need to bring to the workshop?
Students are welcome to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes, and we encourage comfortable clothing suitable for movement, and water.
For online students, we ask that you have access to a device with a working camera and microphone (preferrably a laptop or PC), and a space where you can comfortably move and express without interruption or distraction.
How can I apply the skills learned in this workshop to my acting career?
The techniques learned can be directly applied to auditioning, character development, and performance. You will leave with practical tools to create more nuanced and authentic performances in any acting environment.
I'm not an actor, but I'm interested in this work. Can I still attend?
Absolutely! All courses and workshops offered by PEM Acting by Kalliso are suitable for all artistic disciplines. Although we primarily teach actors, we also commonly teach singers, musicians, writers, photographers and more. As we work with the body and the emotional system, we believe all artists can deeply benefit from our methodology.Â

Do I need to attend both workshops in the same month?
No! You’re welcome to sign up for the dates that suit you, so long as you have completed Part I before attending Part II.Â

What's the difference between the Intro Workshop Series and PEM Basics?
PEM Basics is a series of 6-week terms that thoroughly explore each of the Six Basic Emotions in the PEM methodology. Each term focuses on a single emotion and allows the artist to deeply integrate the method. The Intro Workshop Series is an overview of PEM emotion work, and gives artists an idea of what our method is about before committing to longer programs.
