Artist On Their Experience With PEM

What's exciting about it is because it is so rooted in the body, it doesn't have a residual effect once expressed. It's so fully expressed that it lives through the whole relationship of the emotion. The beginning, middle and end. It doesn't get stuck.
Budi Miller, Head of Acting at Victorian College of the Arts (VCA)
I feel like I've never really actually lived in my body until practicing PEM. I've always been so much in my head.

Garrett Wang is known as the actor portraying Ensign Harry Kim on Star Trek: Voyager in the 1990s. He was exposed to PEM a year ago. He has since been fascinated by our process and expressed his thoughts on PEM for us:

Garrett Wang, Actor, Los Angeles, Las Vegas
PEM is the newest, most cutting-edge and effective of acting methods. Every actor should try it.

The PEM acting method is utterly and completely revolutionary. It can elevate a good actor’s performance from believable, to entirely truthful.
Brandon Kyle Davis, Actor, Los Angeles
It not only will shape the craft of acting, but also how people view their own emotional states. It connects the actor with genuine emotions to relay to the audience, and does so without complication. Honestly, if applied correctly, this method has the potential to introduce a whole new level of understanding to anyone dedicated to the training.
With PEM I have learnt how to quickly and easily access an emotion without having to go through a lot of scenario preparation. With the PEM, I can go straight to grief or aggression with no problem. This is quite revolutionary for an actor.

I think that the Perdekamp Emotional Method is going to be an entirely new movement. PEM has been life-changing for me. What’s been fascinating about this process is that the physical has been happening without getting yourself mentally where you need to be. I think it’s a very powerful tool to be able to access.
The PEM workshop is by far the greatest workshop I have ever taken. I’ve become a whole other actor on another level of acting.
Michael Kratos, Actor, Miami
The PEM workshop is by far the greatest workshop I have ever taken. I’ve become a whole other actor on another level of acting. I want to be truthful and PEM helped me so much more to achieve that. I think it’s just magic and it just gets me there. I feel more comfortable, confident and secure to achieve all these nuances and emotions when they call for in the world of film take. You get a character with authentic emotions, responses and reactions.
During my collaboration with artists who have worked with PEM, I not only noticed their deep comprehension and appreciation of the musical piece, but first and foremost their remarkable flexibility, versatility and an extraordinary instinct to connect and blend music with spoken sounds and other creative forms of expression. The emotional density created on stage not only supported my music and feel of playing, it also helped me to acknowledge my art on a whole new level – make it a more complete and holistic experience. It has always been my dream to be part of such a harmonious merging of language and music. I could allow myself to delve even deeper into my music. The density of emotions and intensity of the music – happening simultaneously but one depending on the other – magically enchanted the audience.

During my collaboration with artists who have worked with PEM, I … noticed their … remarkable flexibility, versatility and an extraordinary instinct to connect.
It’s the acting method for the 21st Century.
Daniel Jude Gennis, Actor, London

The big difference I found with PEM is that you can get into emotions very quickly and that’s very handy for the way for the multimedia aspects of filming that we have today. You have to repeat an emotion and PEM helps you to get there quickly. It is applicable because you can chop and change. It is versatile and for me, it’s the acting method for the 21st Century.
I learned too much to put it into words in just a small testimonial. Basically, PEM is a really direct, easy way to connect to emotions without forcing them on one hand, on the other hand diving into your own psyche basically to get there, either through emotional memory or imagination. PEM is freeing, instantaneous and really accessible. With PEM, you can switch between emotions really easily. You connect to emotions and then you let go of them, so you’re not stuck with them or take it home and I feel really rooted and grounded. These exercises also help you to get into your body. I would absolutely recommend PEM because it’s new and revolutionary.
