Led by PEM Master Instructor Sarah Victoria, this two-day intensive workshop will teach you our acclaimed method for accessing authentic emotion on demand through the conscious and artistic use of your innate biological emotion system.

ABOUT PEM INTENSIVE I
Learn to come in and out of intense emotional states quickly, safely and repeatably without needing to refer to traumatic memories or personal story. Our carefully developed, body-focused exercises will serve to open up your instrument and work through personal restrictions that may be limiting your full potential, enabling you to expand your emotional range and performance capability. Â
PEM Intensive I will cover the foundations of PEM emotion work, teaching you to physically access all six key emotions within PEM: Aggression, Happiness, Grief, Lust, Fear and Revulsion. You will also learn to organically transition through the emotions to open up a whole new world of creative possibilities.Â
Our holistic approach extends beyond performance techniques, aiming to deepen your emotional understanding and improve your overall wellbeing.Â

MEET YOUR INSTRUCTORS
PEM Master Instructor Sarah Victoria will be leading the workshops of our International Workshop Tour, and will be assisted in New York City by Certified PEM Instructor Blake Hackler.
SARAH VICTORIA
PEM Master Instructor
Sarah Victoria is an actress, PEM Master Instructor and Director of Kalliso and PEM International. She has been a certified PEM Instructor since 2004 and trained directly with Stephan Perdekamp. She wrote her master’s thesis about PEM in 2004 and has been teaching for over 19 years. Sarah is on the board of directors of the PEM Center Hamburg as well as an actor in the PEM Ensemble Hamburg and the PEM International Ensemble.
Sarah has led PEMÂ workshops all over the globe, as well as teaching masterclasses at major drama universities including at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the National Institute of Dramatic Art in Australia, at Babes-Bolyai-University in Romania and many more internationally.
BLAKE HACKLER

Blake Hackler is a two-time Fulbright Scholar and has appeared in productions on Broadway, Off-Broadway and in regional theatres throughout the country as well as in TV and film. He is currently Chair and Head of Acting at Southern Methodist University and is the director of Yale University’s Summer Conservatory for Actors. He was a 2023 Lunt-Fontanne Fellow and is a proud member of the Brierley Resident Acting Company at the Dallas Theatre Center. Education: MFA, Yale School of Drama.

Do I need prior experience to participate in this workshop?
No specific background in acting or PEM is required. This workshop is designed for participants of all levels, from beginners to professionals.
What should I expect to gain from PEM Intensive I?
You will learn the foundations of PEM’s approach to physically accessing and expressing emotion authentically, as well as understand how to practically apply these skills.
How are the workshops days structured?
This workshop typically runs from 10am to 5pm each day, incuding a 1hr lunch break. Each day consists of practical exercises, emotion theory, feedback and group discussions, group coaching and exercises and individual feedback .
Our workshops are physically intensive and we cover a lot of information in a short period of time, so we recommend fueling your body and staying hydrated throughout the workshop.
What materials or preparation do I need to bring to the workshop?
Students are welcome to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes, and we encourage comfortable clothing suitable for movement. No other specific materials are required.
How can I apply the skills learned in this workshop to my acting career?
The techniques learned can be directly applied to auditioning, character development, and performance. You will leave with practical tools to create more nuanced and authentic performances in any acting environment.
